Festival
What is Sikhlens?+
Sikhlens is the world's premiere Sikh film festival and arts organization, founded in Southern California post-9/11. We produce documentary films, host international film festivals, and run educational programs to share Sikh heritage and culture with a global audience.
When is the next festival?+
The Sikh Arts & Film Festival (SAFF) runs annually, typically in the fall. We also host Sikhlens-In-A-Box events year-round in cities worldwide. Check our events page for upcoming dates.
Where are festivals held?+
Our flagship festivals run in Los Angeles, Denver, Toronto, London, Delhi, and Chandigarh. Through Sikhlens-In-A-Box, we bring screenings to Seattle, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, and other cities.
Is it free to attend?+
Some screenings and community events are free. Our larger festival events may require tickets. Check specific event listings for details.
What is Sikhlens-In-A-Box?+
Sikhlens-In-A-Box are one-day satellite film festivals we host at universities, gurdwaras, cultural centers, and community spaces worldwide. If you want to host one in your city, contact us.
Films
How do I submit a film?+
Submit year-round through FilmFreeway. We welcome Sikh-centric content, films from Southeast Asian filmmakers, and stories from underrepresented voices.
Is Sikhlens only for Sikh films?+
No. While Sikh-centric content remains our core focus, we've expanded to include filmmakers from Southeast Asia and encourage underrepresented voices from all backgrounds to submit.
What formats are accepted?+
Films must be available in MP4 or MOV format. All submissions must be in English or include English subtitles.
What happens after my film is selected?+
You'll be asked to submit a Press Kit (bio, photo, film description, poster or still). Your film may be screened at SAFF and selected for additional Sikhlens-In-A-Box events worldwide.
Volunteering
How can I volunteer?+
Contact us through our website. We need volunteers for festival logistics, community events, social media, and behind-the-scenes work.
Do I need experience?+
No prior experience required. We have roles for all skill levels, from event setup to content creation to filmmaker liaison.
Where do volunteers help?+
At our festivals in LA, Toronto, Vancouver, and other cities. We also need remote volunteers for social media, research, and administrative tasks.
Sponsorship
How do I become a sponsor?+
Contact us to discuss sponsorship tiers and benefits. We offer Platinum, Gold, and community-level partnerships.
Can I sponsor a specific film?+
Yes. Our film sponsorship program lets donors directly fund the production of a Sikhlens documentary. You'll receive credit and recognition across our platforms.
What do sponsors receive?+
Sponsors receive logo placement on our website and event materials, recognition at screenings, social media mentions, and VIP access to festival events. Benefits scale with sponsorship tier.
